Why did the doctor choose this route and what does it mean for me as a patient?

  A word from Dr. Campbell:

By now, most of you are aware that I have restructured my practice model, effective September 1, 2008. We now practice under a retainer style, annual membership model. Following the “121Dr” fee-for-care model, we now charge a single annual retainer fee for unlimited access to care!!  I am rapidly reducing my practice size to allow time for the personal, preventive primary medical care that I truly love.  My many years of experience in family practice and as a national expert in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy allow me to facilitate the vast majority of patients’ medical needs without restriction or hassles. Now, one annual fee for unlimited access to care includes longer appointment times, my personal cell phone, home phone, 24/7 access, e-mail and same business day appointments. My personal goal is to deliver timely, highly personal and comprehensive services. It is all about having a one to one relationship with you, and I heartfully request you join us!! I want to be your personal physician.

As you are well aware, I have long held the belief that our modern health care system is neither healthy nor caring. The predominant health care model in our country is overly burdensome.  The model has a negative effect on both patients and health care providers.  Sadly, it significantly benefits insurance companies and drug manufacturers, and I don’t see many patients getting REALLY better.   In our model of care, I work directly for the patient’s I love, not for some uninvolved third party. I severed the ties of the abusive relationship I once had with insurers and the government by changing to a "fee-for-service" model and now I think I can do it even better with Dr. Ewin’s "fee-for-care" model!

 Your stories of renewed health and wellness remind me daily that this is the right course.  It has taken much effort to make this model work. Each of your lives encourages and blesses me.  I want to do the best job I can for those who have chosen me. This means reducing my practice size by 66% and doing a better job for those who stay with us.

I know this new concept may be difficult for some, and is it not my intention to hurt anyone, but I feel the cost will be well worth the price.  (Having paid more than this recently to restore one bad tooth, the comparison cost seems very low!) More importantly, it will ensure the patient doctor-patient relationship to which I aspire.

Most of us are used to a system where we pay for only part of our doctor visit (the co-payment) and insurance pays their portion.  We believe this system leads to inflated health care costs and a lack of concern for the patient.  We also believe that a lack of knowledge about the true costs of health care can lead to over and under-utilization of services.  Some health care charges are frankly unaffordable without being subsidized by insurance; however, we make every effort to provide quality and affordable healthcare to each and every patient.

 

My consultation fees will be affordable to most people and we have many choices when it comes to financing your membership plan.  However, we will gladly help you use your insurance to pay for services received outside of our office such as lab work, x-rays, mammograms, stress tests, specialist consultations, etc.  Please let us know if this is an option you wish to utilize. 

 

Our office does not file claims or participate in any insurance plans.
